MoCo Students for Change
Montgomery County Public Schools are becoming increasingly segregated by socio-economic class. De facto segregation is the new norm in our county. The stunning disparities of demographics in our schools are reminiscent of what America's schools looked liked in the 1960's, during the peak of racial segregation in our country.
During the 2018-2019 school year, MoCo For Change lead a successful campaign to push for the Board of Education to commission a county-wide analysis of our school boundary lines in efforts to promote integration in MCPS. The analysis is currently being conducted.
Moving forward, we will continue to provide our perspectives as students on the value of diversity in our schools and advocate for actions to be taken towards a more equitable county.
